A symbol of prosperity and love, to connect with the invisible world.
Necklace created from leftover plantain wood, product of the upcycling process; with silver plated chain. By Atelier Diospyros, France.
Plantain wood necklace with silver plated chain.
Plantain wood is full of nuances due to its particular mesh-like veining, like small pearly "drawings". For thousands of years, the plane tree (kadali in Sanskrit) has accompanied human life and nourished the imagination. In Hindu culture, it is a symbol of beauty, femininity and prosperity. It is considered the reincarnation of the goddesses Parvati, symbol of the loving wife, and Lakshmi, goddess of beauty. It is also one of the ritual plants that help to establish communication with the supernatural and invisible world. The plantain is an offering plant symbolising abundance and fertility.
The Selva collection, with its geometric shapes, is inspired by goldsmithing. The precious wood, its finesse and its natural colours stand out. This jewellery is eco-responsible, a product of the upcycling process: with the aim of saving rare species of wood and giving new life to the remains of wood that cannot be used in other products, a unique piece of jewellery is designed and manufactured by hand, reminding us of the magic of trees as generators of life on the planet.
