Fairies: remembering the importance of fantasy

Wikipedia says that a fairy (from the Latin fatum: fate, destiny) is a fantastic humanoid spirit. According to tradition, they are protective spirits of nature, nowadays often depicted in the form of a woman with shining wings.

These beings are characterised as being in human form with the innate ability to manipulate magic, with long life spans (in some cases, they are immortal) and remaining invisible or hidden from the human eye.

According to the works of Chrétien de Troyes and especially Jean D'Arras, Couldrette and Thiiring von Ringoltingen, fairies are beings of great beauty and possessors of considerable wealth, sometimes gifted with a talent for building or other arts. They are almost always associated with or very close to forests and water (rivers, lakes, springs...). They all have knowledge of plants, stones and spells, with which they achieve their material wealth and their charms.

At Ancestrias, we want to honour this part of the history of the development of magical thinking in our species, and that is why we are delighted to be able to offer the creations of Faërie Artisanat, handmade by Sarah from the French forests.

Fairies remind us of the power of fantasy: all great change begins with the purest imagination. Find the Colección Alas magical charms on our website
